Executive Council Candidate - Jesse Smutherman

Jesse Smutherman is a native of Dillon, S.C. He is married to Deborah Smutherman and are the parents and grandparents of two(2) adult children and four(4) grandchildren. He graduated with a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Saint Augustine’s University, and obtained an M.S. Business Administration Degree from Abilene Christian University. While attending Saint Augustine’s University, he received military training (via North Carolina State University) as a U.S. Army Cadet and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant during graduation.  He served a total of 8 years (Active and Reserve) as an officer in the U.S. Army.

While in the Army, he received specialized training in Materials and Supply Management (Quartermaster Branch, Fort Lee, Virginia), and he held positions that included Battalion Property Book Officer, Training Officer, and Battalion S-4 Officer/ Battalion Logistics/Supply Officer. During his tenure in the Army, he achieved the rank of Captain. Upon leaving active military duty, he begin his professional career with Texas Instruments and later Raytheon Co, where he held various positions that included Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Project and Material Management, and Site Supply Chain Lead/Management at Several Raytheon sites with responsibility for Material Requirement Planning, Purchasing Management, Material Program Management, Transportation, Warehouse Management and Inventory Management and Control. Clearance Levels required and obtained Top Secret/Special Access Program Level clearances. He retired from Raytheon Co in 2018 after 40 years of service.

He and his wife have been members of Mount Hebron for over 40 years and have been active or have been a leader in multiple ministries including Deacon/Deaconess, New Members Committee, Choir, Hospitality Committee, Sunday School, Discipleship, Missions/Evangelism, Building and Planning, Finance/Treasurer, Policy and Procedure Committee, Fellowship Committee, Trustee, Mount Hebron MBC, Board of Directors.

He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
